«Kuban Scottish Dancers» is the first group in Russia, affiliated to the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (Edinburgh). It was founded in Krasnodar in 1999.

In order to dance lively reels and jigs one shouldn’t necessarily be a Scot. Scottish Country dancing is the hobby accessible to everybody and known all over the world. The main thing is the desire to learn, communicate, to open and realize your talents.

Scottish Country Dancing is of social character. Our purpose is not competition, but getting maximum pleasure from dancing and communication.

Doors of our club are open for everybody – children and adults, people of different interests and social status. We have groups for the smallest children (6-8 years old), for children 9-12 years old and adults of all ages.

Those, who wish to achieve perfection in the Scottish Country and Highland Dancing and to participate in demonstration displays, can become members of our demonstration team.

Celtic Club

Besides the Scottish Country Dance group we have the Celtic Club. It was founded in January, 2002 and attracts those, who are interested in the culture, life, history and heritage of this huge and insufficiently studied group of peoples that are united under the name of Celts.

Though today little is spoken about them, they have left an rich heritage in the Western world. They have influenced the history, art and religion of Europe. Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Brittany (the north of France) – these are only the main areas where this culture spread.

One can find out about celtic history, art, customs and traditions at our club meetings, and participate in discussions on these and many other themes. Those who want to practice and maintain their level of English language can also come here. A number of meetings are held in English.

You can hear live celtic music, songs in English, Gaelic and Russian languages and even learn some of the songs here. Fans of music can visit special classes of our choir.

Self-expression - this is the word that describes one of the main goals of our club.

The following events regularly take place in our club:

  • Ceilidhs (Scottish and Irish evenings of dance and music), balls, dedicated to the traditional holidays (Christmas, Easter, Halloween / Samhain, Beltane, Lammas, Burns Night and others);
  • Meetings, classes and joint events with the representatives of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society and dancers from different clubs from Great Britain and other countries of the world;
  • Meetings and events held together with other groups and organizations, interested in Celtic Culture in Russia and abroad;
  • Summer schools in Russia and Scotland;
  • Festivals of Scottish Country Dancing and Celtic Culture
