Cavorting in the Caucasus

All 53 of us now reported to be back where we belong!

Highlights of the trip for me are

the icons in the church in the Kremlin,

the Moscow Guide and her instructions to "pay attention to the left/right",

the Samovar tea dance by the girls at the Russian evening in the Palace of Culture,

the Cossack dancing by the teenagers,

the Cossack Costumes and portraits in the Krasnodar Museum,

the Musicians/Clowns and Banquet at the Cossack Restaurant,

Floating and Dancing IN the isotonic Black Sea,

the Russian Bath with flailing oak leaves,

the sweet chestnut honey with nuts at the tea tasting,

dance classes in the mirror room of the Palace of Culture,

the class performing Bonnie Anne,

the brilliant array of accomplished teachers from all over the world and their

imaginative choice of dances for classes,

learning Russian quadrilles,

the sputnik in the aerospace museum,

lots of singing of Russian folk songs and learning the words to Kalinka,

the miles and miles of trees covering the steep slopes of the Caucasus,

The Kuban Dancers interpretation of Burns poem in the tango style,

laughing too much, dancing flamenco with Ilona,

wondering what to say on national television,

Scottish country dancing with these handsome young Kuban men to the exuberant music of Scottish Measure at the Highland Ball, oh such memories!

But these are only my recollections, look out for the tales of adventure from other folk that I have omitted. Ilona and I think the motto for DanceTour should be: We specialise in the unexpected!

I've started going to a Russian evening class!
